Newspaper Stories: Reporters and Editors collection

More than 2,100 daily and weekly newspapers were closed from 2004 to 2021 in the United States. Tens of thousands of newspaper employees with a wide range of skills and with families depending on them have lost their jobs. This collection of eight linked short stories and two novel excerpts by Dennis Herrick features reporters and editors working together in the same newsrooms.

This book is a tribute to the men and women who filled such vital roles in the nation's democracy.

Newspaper closures have been driven by a double assault of rising Internet and free media competition, as well as economic pressures caused by years of businesses and readers coping with the Covid epidemic.
