Farewell to the Master

farewell to the master, the day the earth stood still, alien, first contact, short story, science fiction

Harry Bates wrote this classic short story/novella in 1940 for Astounding science fiction magazine. His story was adapted into two movies in 1951 and 2008, both titled "The Day the Earth Stood Still." Hollywood made many changes for the movie -- even changing the giant robot's name from Klaatu in this original story to Gnut in the movie versions.

This book is a reprint of the original story published by the magazine. Both the print and the ebook versions include historical background and a brief biography of Harry Bates as well as  a list of more than 350 stories and novels about alien first contact. This is the only annotated version of the story in paperback or as an ebook on Amazon.com. Unlike other copy and paste reprints of this sci-fi classic, this book is reset with modern punctuation and formatting, and it includes a brief biography of Harry Bates, in addiiton to the list of other first-contact books.

The ebook and print book can be ordered through many bookstores or online through IndieBound.

It also is available on several of Amazon's international websites. Simply go to the appropriate international site and search for Farewell to the Master.
